The Namma Metro Blue Line will add a Doddajala station on the airport road. What that means for villa plots near Bangalore airport, and how to read the timelines.
Few projects will reshape North Bangalore as much as the Blue Line, the Namma Metro corridor that will run from Central Silk Board along the Outer Ring Road to Kempegowda International Airport. For anyone buying in the Devanahalli belt, it is the infrastructure story to follow.
The line in brief
The Blue Line, also called the ORR–Airport line, is being built in two sections. Phase 2A runs from Central Silk Board to KR Puram along the Outer Ring Road. Phase 2B runs from KR Puram north through Hebbal and along the airport highway to the airport terminals, with stations such as Bagalur Cross, Doddajala and Airport City. Interchanges are planned with the Yellow, Purple and Pink lines, which will make the airport reachable by metro from much of the city.

Where things stand in late 2026
Earlier targets of mid-2026 have slipped. Elevated stations and viaducts are visibly under construction along the airport highway, but official communication now points to the line opening in phases through 2027. Current listings show Doddajala and Airport City stations opening around mid-2027, and some reports suggest the complete link to the airport terminal could stretch towards the end of 2027. One intermediate station, Chikkajala, has been deferred as a future station.
Our advice is simple: treat the metro as a strong medium-term tailwind, not a date to bet on. Large rail projects in every Indian city have run late, and North Bangalore’s growth case does not depend on any single opening date.
Why Doddajala station matters for nearby plots
Lake Botanica is about ten minutes from the Doddajala metro station. Once the line opens, residents will be able to reach the airport in minutes and connect to Hebbal, the Outer Ring Road tech corridor and beyond without driving into city traffic.
How metro lines affect plot prices
Across Bangalore, neighbourhoods near metro lines have seen stronger rental demand and price support once services begin, because transit widens the pool of people who can live there comfortably. The effect is usually strongest within a short drive of a station, in areas that also have schools, healthcare and retail, which describes the Doddajala stretch well, with universities, international schools and the planned Forum mall nearby.
The bigger picture
The metro is one of several connectivity projects converging on the north: the Satellite Town Ring Road, whose first 80 km section between Dobbaspet and Hoskote opened in March 2024, and the proposed Bengaluru Business Corridor (the former Peripheral Ring Road), where authorities have prioritised a stretch linking the airport side to NICE Road. Each project shortens journeys for a part of the city, and together they are pulling Bangalore’s centre of gravity northwards.
Timelines are based on public reports as of October 2026 and may change.
